The Breaks Company is a privately owned company established in 2002.
Richard Speigal, Managing Director
With 10 years of commercial programming experience behind him, Richard is the technical brains behind the business.
Putting corporate computing behind him, he came up with the initial "Breaks" travel advertising model, combining previous experience in online automation, content management and web marketing.
Nowadays his time is taken up with business development and although his anorak is now hidden in a dusty cupboard, Richard retains a passion for web technology AND the bottom-line.
Lisa Speigal, Advertising Director
As the more attractive half of the husband-and-wife team, Lisa manages advertising and editorial content on the Breaks sites.
Lisa brings many years of management experience to the company, ensuring everything runs smoothly while advertising customers get the service they've come to expect.

How we got started
In a previous life, Richard worked in corporate IT (it was very dull) and his boss bought a holiday villa in Lanzarote.
As part of a shameless bid for promotion and a pay rise, Richard offered to investigate how his boss might use the Internet to get rental bookings.
Back in those days there weren't many holiday rentals websites.
Never one to miss an opportunity to plagiarise, Richard took inspiration from the market leaders and built our first website in 2002:
it was called Lanzarote Breaks.
We promptly charged the boss to advertise and the business was turning a profit within 3 months.
Richard waved goodbye to the job (sorry, boss - but thanks for the idea!) and the rest is history.
In 2004 Lisa joined the company, brought some much needed order to Richard's coffee stained office and ignited our expansion to the rest of Spain with the launch of our flagship website España Breaks.
Whilst Richard maintains the nerdy technical stuff, Lisa does pretty well everything else - most importantly managing the entire portfolio and giving a great service to our customers.
Our business is a wholly owned, private Limited company registered in England.
